19 of the Russian's 21 victories have been won on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his maiden title for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a former number one, has experienced a torrid year, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - caused him falling of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with former coach his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden title since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface since March of the previous year.

Victory also indicates he has won 21 titles at 21 distinct competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters at once, so to win a trophy is really nice," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, featuring in Halle previously this season.

The player's retrieving approach and recurring reactions on the tennis court had caused commentators to doubt if his capacity to play at the elite level was over.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play assertively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the first set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the last five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped break points in the following set before Moutet, striving for his first ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to force a final set.

The opponent defended 4 initial chances in a close deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he earned the win with a point at the net, with Moutet unable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
